While there are many good reasons to go for a nose job, it is an invasive procedure that requires a lot of rest. If you are thinking about going for a rhinoplasty (nose job) you should learn about the procedure and fully understand the entire process. Although it will be a little uncomfortable after the procedure, the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
You will not be able to go home on your own after natural nose surgery (called เสริมจมูกธรรมชาติ in Thai). You will be giving a local or general anesthetic, so you will feel a little groggy after the procedure. Doctors recommend not driving for at least 24 hours after the operation. The best way to get home is to have someone meet you in the clinic or hospital and escort you home.
In addition, it is recommended you have some help at home for the first few days of recovery. You won’t be in the mood to cook or clean for yourself, so it is useful to have someone around who can help.
Rest & Sleep
It is normal to feel some level of discomfort after the operation due to the nature of the procedure. It is essential that you get as much rest as possible and always keep your head elevated when watching TV or sitting around the house. Keeping your head elevated will help to reduce swelling and bruising that occurs after the procedure.
When you go to sleep, it is important to do so on your back. If you find this difficult, place two cushions on either side of your body when you lay in bed. You can also practice sleeping on your back a few days before the procedure.
Here are some other things to expect after the procedure:
- Swelling & Tenderness
- Pain & Discomfort
Glasses & Exercise
You should avoid any strenuous exercise for at least 2 to 3 weeks after the procedure. In addition, it is best to avoid wearing glasses for 6 to 8 weeks. Although they aren’t heavy, they pinch the nasal and restrict blood flow.
Rhinoplasty is done all over the world, it is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries and thousands of people fix injuries or reshape their nose with this procedure. It is not a serious operation and you will be in and out of the hospital that same day. After the operation you will experience some level of discomfort.
